HG RX-78-2 Gundam (GTO ver.) build retrospective

I’ll be honest and say that I never really liked the design of the MG Origin Gundam. There’s something about the chest that feels a bit off to me, with it being way too swole and saggy at the same time, with the curving down on the sides and the chest vents tapering out. The HG version kinda fixes this issue for me with it’s slimmer proportions and after building it I can indeed confirm that it is a god-tier kit. It comes with alot of different options to build it in, there’s the great surface detail that Origin kits are known for, and the only seams are on the weapons.

Those with keen eyes may notice that the head is actually from the RG. I broke the head vulcans during assembly and the resulting gap really bothered me. I felt the easiest solution would just to pinch the head from a spare RG Gundam I had lying around. The designs are pretty much the same, except the V-fin on the original HG is slightly larger.

I couldn’t really decide whether to build the early or middle type, I just slapped on what I felt were the most intereting parts from each version.
